Athena SWAN


The Athena SWAN Charter was set up in 2005 by the Government’s Equality Challenge Unit to advance the retention of 
women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Mathematics (STEMM).

Institutes of Higher Education are invited to apply for Athena SWAN awards to recognise and celebrate their good practice in recruiting, retaining and promoting women in STEMM.

The Department of Oncology is fully committed to upholding the aims of the Charter and is proud to have achieved a Silver Award in 2013, as part of the University's School of Clinical Medicine.
